58: 80's Greatness ATCs

One of my all-time favorite movies.

Dear Mr. Vernon,

We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did was wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are.

You see us as you want to see us... in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions.

But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain......

and an athlete......

and a basket case...

a princess...

and a criminal...

Does that answer your question?

Sincerely yours,

the Breakfast Club.

57: Science is cool

I couldn't think of anything else to add to this picture.

May call it a WIP (work in progress.)

Any suggestions?

Sometimes I just find good pictures and I go ahead and use them even if I don't exactly have a plan. I tend to forget where I saw things, I mean I have about 215,315,443 books and magazines in my house.

56: E is for Ernest who choked on a peach

55: D is for Desmond thrown out of a sleigh

54: Edward Gorey ABCs

C is for Clara who wasted away

53: Edward Gorey ATCs

B is for Basil assaulted by bears

Poor Basil

He should have been wearing a 19th century Siberian bear hunting suit.

52: Edward Gorey ATCs

Based on this book, The Gashlycrumb Tinies. A Gorey Alphabet.

This was a swap on Swap-Bot, but by the time I finally signed up, they were already to V.

Good thing I am doing my own then.

A is for Amy who fell down the stairs.

And also good thing I am not swapping, as I smeared mine. GUH. I smudged the last line, it wasn't quite dry when I erased the pencil guidelines.

If I were Amy, I would have fallen down these crazy stairs too.

And speaking of trippy stairs....

I found these when I was looking for a stairs reference photo.

51: Alice in Wonderland inspired ATC

You used to be much muchier.

You have lost your muchness.

Don't lose your muchness.

Altered playing card

And while we're at it, I punched out a gazillion cardboard inchie bases, as I recently discovered you are supposed to make sure they are not all flimsy.

Good thing I read about that before I was in an actual inchie swap!

Well, it is Shark week after all.

Image transfer plus words from a magazine.

47: Alice in Wonderland ATC

Painting the roses red, we're painting the roses red....

Gessoed this card and painted the background red. Illustrations from the book, and of course the Queen's famous line; Off with their heads!

46: Alice in Wonderland ATC

Well, it is inspired by a quote from the book.

And who is more curious than Curious George?

We had a recent book tragedy. Curious George Rides a Bike decided it had had enough reading and pretty much just fell apart when the Munchkin opened it up. It was a fairly old copy, 1970. The pages were already getting rather frail anyway.

So instead of heaving it into the trash, I kept it for book altering.

Of course.

45 Again

I decided to change it a little.

43: Alice in Wonderland. Swap-Bot swap, playing card ATC

I use playing cards for all my ATCs, but this one requires it.

So I chose the Queen of Hearts.

Before we get to the Alice pieces, I have one old project left to post.

I signed on as an artist in a mini show. As far as I got was the background, as seen here. Waaay back in January. Hey, at least it was from this year.

I figured out what to do with it, thank goodness. As I was truly in the 11th hour. This has to be en route by the 7th. Cut it a little too close, even for me.

I liked the pattern of the background. At first I thought of doing an octopus. But then it hit me, dinosaur.

Sandra Boynton's My, Oh My, Dinosaurs and Carol Diggory Shields' Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp have been the munchkin's preferred books recently. We have been on a silly dino kick around here this summer.

And it shows in my contribution.

Stars in His Eyes 2012

And I have plotted 3 or 4 more as a little series, not for the show.

Reboot. Again.

Been a long time since I last posted, you can read what happened here.

I have created a "hub" of all my ramblings and such.

Now for this reboot. I ain't mad about it. Not because I enjoy quitting or starting over, but because for the first time in many, many months I feel CREATIVE again.

In the past few months I pretty much used my creativity in time management. Especially during the baby's stay in the NICU. I was there with her every day.

And yet still managed to mother the other two and keep them in clean clothes. Keeping a semi-clean house and feeding everyone. Whew. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if that was creative time management or just plain miraculous!

Anywhoo....on with the show.

I lost my original train of thought, so I am doing something different.

I will even have an actual theme this time!

At least for this month.

And that theme will be paper. More specifically ATCs, Inchies (and friends) and a few altered board books to keep it interesting.

So, yay, a theme! And a double yay that I am back to creating!

A good many of my projects are based upon swaps. I am a member of Craftster and always wanted to do the swaps. They have such cool themes, and face it, I am a gal that needs direction. However, I have never done a swap. And on Craftster you have to have done at least ONE to do a lot of these swaps. There never seem to be any newbie swaps, so I just end up watching.

*Le Sigh.

Then I heard about Swap-Bot. Sadly, the same issue. There ARE more newbie swaps, but all the ones that interested me had a prerequisite of~you guessed it~ having swapped successfully.

So I decided to follow along in the ones I wanted to do in an offline "swap" of my own. I am not trading with anyone, but I don't know what else to call it.

So HA, Craftster and Swap-Bot! Ok, not really. I just REEEALLY wanted to do a bunch of these.

So in honor of Quirky Crafts Month, and my new baby girl, I am starting off with the Alice in Wonderland ones.
