109: Create a new birthday song or tradition.

Candles on your birthday cake scare you? Well, how about if all your meals on your birthday had a candle?

My breakfast.

My lunch.

I was plotting on birthday pizza, as I am of the mindset that when it is your birthday you should not have to cook (or do dishes), but both the Mister and the Spawnling had to work. So the Littlest and I had bacon and eggs for dinner.

To be continued.....

108: Play in the dirt.

Make that a sandbox and you have a deal.

She had her toes in the sand and whoa!

No drink in my hand but feeling On top of the world, oh yeah.

After a very brief morning thunderstorm, we were lucky to get more sun. Took advantage of the beautiful day by playing outside. Of course, we have to play in the sandbox.

Milestone moment: The littlest finally shucked her shoes and went barefoot in the sand.

I think she enjoyed having her toes in the sand as well!

107: Work with something in your freezer.

Whew! What a scorcher today was. We probably consumed about a million gallons of water and of course, broke out the popsicles. And not just any ole kind of popsicle....Ice Pops!

A summer staple for as long as I can remember.

106: Create an animal that has never existed before....

Ladies and gentleman, step right up....

Unless you have watched The Kids in the Hall, you may never have seen a chicken lady before today.

These are the remnants of a couple of projects; the cock ring (teehee) and one still in-progress, a Day of the Dead Calaca.

Although, technically I guess she would be a Rooster Lady, but it doesn't have quite the same ring to it...

105: Add a door where one wouldn't normally exist...

We are having some carpentry work done around the house....the bang! bang! bang!ing could also attribute to my creative lapse.

The door ended up off the hinges and presented me with a perfect opportunity for this challenge.

Would you like the white?

Or the house red? :P

Not quite 105/365

Was adding labels to my older posts and was rereading everything. All the way back to the very beginning.

Oh, how excited and inspired I was...but somewhere along the way I lost that spontaneous, creative spark and started thinking of it like a deadline. How I even stopped writing...the little less than a sentence postings.

GASP. When did I turn this into a job...a chore?

No wonder I have been blocked lately.

Le Sigh. Revelation number 7542587 since I have begun this challenge.

Noah, Noah, Noah....you were so right....Make something everyday and change your life.

So let me get back to my original mission.

104: Purple

I just loved this one.

We took the littlest to the park and these were growing wild, mixed in with the bushes.

103: Narrow your focus...pick a small area indoors or outdoors and inspect it very carefully...use the details you would normally overlook to inspire you

Look who was hiding out in the grass.

I am sure he thought he was very well hidden. He didn't even move for about 5 minutes.

He gave me plenty of opportunities to get him from all angles.

102: Revisit (again).....insects

With so few breaks from the rain, I am taking advantage of any and all opportunities of being able to take pictures outside.

And, of course, the deadline-obsessed part of me that knows I am behind in Project 365 wants to play catch up.

101: Revisit...reflections

With so much rain, and sadly a lot more on the way, puddles are everywhere.

100: Goldfinger...work only with gold materials today

A new ring, a golden star burst and winding knob from a watch.

Almost a third of the way through my 365...

99: Add a face to something that normally doesn't have one.

Courtesy of the Spawnling.

While I do enjoy making things, I have discovered that photography is still my favorite art form.

And that's a good thing.

Especially since I am gearing up for my first local exhibit...and have recently decided to go back to school. Photojournalism.

That was what I wanted to do when I was younger. However, I took a different path career-wise, life-wise...and I love where I am. My life. My family. But given the economy, it seems even a receptionist needs a degree these days. So I started thinking about going back to school. Then I figured if I had to go back to school anyway, it might as well be for something I love.

So, I am taking pictures of anything and everything. Likely they will end up here more often than not.

98: Work only with Legos

During the latest trip to the recycling center, I found a whole box of Legos.

This set is newer than mine, and includes new colors and shapes.

I went with the small block and made rings.

97: A little more purple from the garden.

Lucky for me, some long ago resident planted all these lovely plants that return year after year.

I have a rather black thumb which perplexes my family, as they could all probably plant a tire and grow a car. I just seem to not have inherited the gardening gene.

And not for lack of trying either.

Assorted little, potted flowers (mostly Mother's Day gifts from the spawnling before she knew better.)

Aloe. That had been thriving for years before I came along (and whose death earned me the name Plant Killer by the Mister.)

Cactus. Surely, a cactus will be safe for me, The Plant Killer. Nope.

I have a lone bamboo plant that has decided to withstand my attentions...but honestly, at one point, it was touch and go.

96: Purple People Eater...work only with purple materials

Purple. Definitely a dominant color around the yard. Certainly some of the flowers around here are weeds, like my dandelions...but I think they are pretty just the same.

When I thought about "purple" I imagined my lilac tree. But when I went into the backyard to snap a picture...

This lovely one surprised me, I didn't even know it was there. Apparently, I need to keep an eye out on what is about to bloom in my backyard. There appear to be more surprises in store for me soon.

I had been watching the lilac tree bloom from my kitchen window and I kept meaning to get outside to take a picture. But the rain has been so heavy this week, today was the first chance I had. Glad I did, as the blooms are already fading.

The ones the little bumblebee loved today.

And one from my neighbor....too pretty to pass by.

95: Revisit....insects

It has been raining for days, but this afternoon I was finally able to get outside. Finding insects is never a problem around here, as they love the assorted flora and fauna in my yard.

I found this little fellow hanging out on a dandelion.

Here is a bumblebee, but he was flying around and my poor little point and shoot is not so swift.

I forget what these will become, but as you can see, the ants just love them.

94: Make a rubbing

I recently acquired a silver box that had a raised picture that seemed perfect for this challenge.

I used crayon.

And pencil.

I think I prefer the pencil.

93: Only work with the objects that are already on a table or desk near you today...

This I found at the recycling center. I thought it would be cool to make something out of its parts.

I discovered, however, that it still plays music. Usually. So I just decided to leave it alone.

So now you can find it on my desk, occasionally chiming out it's little tune.

92: Make something considered cute into something that is not.

Oooh. This was not made by me, but suits this challenge to a tee...

Go here for Scary Mary

91: Use the world of insects as your inspiration today.

I think this little fella shall become a pin.

90: Make something unappetizing seem appetizing...

So basically make something that looks delicious, but is in fact inedible.

However, this was not an intentional fulfillment of the challenge.

The littlest wanted to make brownies. However, we ended up buying a mix. And not just any mix, the Pilsbury Mini Brownies. Just add water! Comes with little plastique baking trays. I was trying to steer away from the Easy Bake kind. You know, now that I have a functioning oven. Oh well.

So 15-18 minutes later, they looked tasty...but when I turned the pan over, they made kind of a clinking sound as they hit the plate.

Ooops, we made rocks.

89: Use only pencils as your inspiration.

One of my favorite things to photograph is something I call Lost and found.

Sometimes they are sad, like that forgotten teddy bear I found in the woods, but usually they are rather ordinary objects. Just a little out of place.

88: Make something that can fly and test it out.

See, I was not joking about that sky.

We took advantage of this beautiful day with something we (well, The Mister) built...a rocket.

What I discovered? Kites are hard to take photos of, but rockets....

Sadly, I only had two chances as the wind carried the little parachute into the very top of a rather tall tree.

87: Use the wind. Make something that incorporates or requires wind to be complete.

Well, I didn't make it...but it certainly needs wind to work properly.

We had some good wind. And let me tell you, it is tough (for me) to get a shot of a kite in flight.

Here it goes....

Looking good....

YAY! Check out that blue sky. Not a cloud in sight.
